An Impressive Story

My father is a businessman, and he has a factory in China. Because he almost spends his time in China, he rarely stays in Taiwan. From my childhood he only comes back to Taiwan four times a year, and every time he just stays about one week. Because of that, we didn't have a good relationship since I was very young. I  didn't  know how to talk with him, and when he was at home I always felt pressure.

When I was in the university, one day I had a serious argument with my mother. At that time I was very upset because I thought my mother didn’t understand me anymore. I was very sad, and I didn’t know what to do, so I called to my father from Taiwan to China. In the beginning I just greeted him and asked if he was fine. Finally, I said I thought of him so much, and I began to cry. My father was shaking when he heard my crying. He was nervous and he didn’t know what to say in the beginning. Then, he said “I know, but you know, a man doesn't have to express that, and we just know we do miss each other. I understand, so don’t cry.” Actually I felt embarrassed after then, but I knew my father loved me even though he had never said that by himself.

My Introduction

Hi, I am Marcus. I am from Taiwan.

I had a Computer Sciense mater degree in Taiwan, and I ever worked for three years. I used to be an engineer, and I was responsible to software and firmware design in my company. I was also responsible to our company's IT environment maintenance, such as network maintenance, server maintenance.

I came to Seattle because of few reasons. First, I want to imporve my English. English is an important tool, so I think if I can speak English well, I would have more oppertunity to get higher position. I hope to be an manager somedays rather than a pure engineer. Second, I want to experience different culture and environment, and I am also excited in meeting international friends. Finally, I wanted to take a break and configured out my future career. Because my father has a company in China, I have thought about if I have to go to China to help him, or stay in Tainwan to be an Engineer. I am always in struggle, so I decided to come here and let me to consider about it.
